Curtain Styles

There are four main categories of window dressings to choose from:-

  • Unlined Sheer Curtains (voiles)
  • Lined light/medium weight Curtains
  • Medium/heavy interlined Curtains
  • Blinds ( Roman Blinds, Roll up, Roller, Venetian and Vertical Blinds)

To create your personalised and unique look many of the above can all be enhanced using edgings and borders. Contrast pelmets, the mixing of fabrics, textures and colours can all add extra interest and style to your room.

CURTAINS

Choosing the right Curtains and Headings

To enhance the features of your windows or views it is essential you choose the most suitable style and headings for your curtains. This will help formalise the style of your home whether it be formal, relaxed or more contemporary.

  • Pencil Pleat – created with sewn on heading tape. Perfect for a relaxed scheme. Also available as a deep pencil pleat. Suitable for tracks or poles.
  • Pinch Pleat – Hand sewn. Gives a very stylish, more formal heading. Works best on medium to heavy weight fabrics. This heading can be formed into Triple Pleats, Double Pleats or Goblet Headings. They are ideal for lounges/Dining rooms. Best suited to a pole.
  • Eyelets – A practical, functional heading. Ideal for Breakfast rooms, Family rooms or more contemporary living areas. Great with bold patterned fabric. Good solution for areas where curtains need to be pulled back away from windows and space is limited.
  • Tab Tops - Loops of fabric are stitched to the top of the curtain. Practical, relaxed heading, good for children’s rooms. Suitable for light/medium weight curtains.

BLINDS

  • Roman Blinds - These form soft pleats when raised and hang flat when down. Blinds are hand finished so no machine stitching can be seen. Suitable for most windows. Roman Blinds are supplied with a wooden baton and operate with cords as standard. As an alternative for very large blinds you can be supplied with a chain mechanism track.
  • Roll up Blinds – These are rolled up with button fastening. Look great made with contrast edges and fastenings. Best suited as dress blinds rather than everyday use. Suitable for small windows, ideal in hallways.
  • Roller Blinds - Made from stiffened fabric, these can also be made from customers own fabric to co-ordinate with other soft furnishings. Ideal for kitchens and bathrooms. Blackout rollers are perfect, used in combination with dress curtains in children's bedrooms. Also suitable for skylight and velux windows.
  • Venetian Blinds - made with horizontal wood or aluminium slats. Very modern and practical. Can be tilted to let in as much light as possible or closed for privacy.
  • Vertical Blinds - Vertical strips of stiffened fabric. Ideal for offices or study's. Can be tilted to let in light or entirely pulled back from the window when not required.

PELMETS

Pelmets can be made to co-ordinate with your curtains or roman blinds. Either a soft or wooden pelmet can be made.
